Have you ever wanted to make a change in your life, whether it be regarding your behaviour or your circumstances, yet you find it near impossible to make the change through shear will-power alone?
You try with all your might to change yourself, to show up, to do the hard work and to stay away from that which sucks life away from you, yet… you find yourself going round in circles. Such circulation results in a sense of powerlessness, confusion, frustration and feelings of being stuck with no way out of the vicious cycles leading you into a living Hell on Earth.
Temptation calls for you so that you may indulge in whatever vice is sapping away your life-force, even though you fight with all of your mental capacity, you find yourself giving in and feeling both guilty and ashamed of your actions.
Such is the work of The Devil, that being the dark force that wishes to sever us from our potential, to block us from growing in the upward direction. It pulls us down into lower states of being, lower tones of mind and a lower quality existence.
A low quality existence is not necessarily a life with less to possess, but rather a life that lacks colour, definition, love, connection, enthusiasm, purpose, meaning and fulfilment. A meaningless life is one not worth living, and thus, many choose to take their own lives when all hope of a better future is lost.
No matter where we are in the world today temptation is always calling, the devil whispers into our hearts with each and every day for the majority of moments.
For some, those whispers are allowed formation into bigger entities like ideas, plans and eventually actions which become unconscious, automatic habits. This is what addiction looks like. The continual choice to consume or partake in a particular activity which does not bring us to the reward or result we seek, yet we continue to do it anyway.
Once the devil has hijacked the automatic system of habit, one is in a very difficult situation to break free from. It is still indeed possible to make a change of direction and to take back power over one’s life, however it is extremely difficult, if attempted to be done alone that is.
Continually attempting to succeed in relinquishing oneself from the chains of addiction and self sabotaging behaviour patterns alone is indeed rooted in sin. That is, an insidious sin to say the least. This is the sin of Pride. Pride is the refusal to accept that one is not his own creator, and the rejection of the idea that one must submit to a higher power in order to thrive in life.
Pride is a sin for it rejects God. A prideful person claims and seeks glory in all that they do. Not acknowledging the very fact that even that as forgettable as breath is being gifted to them from a source nobody understands.
You have to have ‘had enough’ before you can be helped. As long as the desire to continue down the dark path outweighs your desire to move towards the light, you will succumb to darkness. This is not to say that there will be a day when darkness does not exist in your heart, when you will be free from temptation and the choice will be clear as day. It means that you ‘must’ want to change with all of your being, even if you lack hope and even if you feel a sense of powerlessness.
How can one move towards a future if the future seems non-existent and only dark? This is the invitation to Faith. Faith is belief in that which we are not certain of, beliefs are strong ideas and eventually form into convictions which are unquestionable for most.
You may ask… faith in what?
It is Faith in the opposition to that which wishes to see us crumble and waste away our potential that we must develop faith in. It is Faith in God, The Divine, the creator, Allah, the miraculous power that grants us the ability of thought, breath, blood-flow, and all that is unquantifiable.
When The Devil has taken over the automatic behavioural system, ie. Has placed himself deeply within our habit system, it is only through God and Faith that we can break free. God has created men for us to follow in example. Prophets of the past that still live presently in the hearts of billions. Through this example we can aspire to be like them, yet the ultimate example is that of God Himself.
God is all forgiving, all merciful, and will accept any person back onto the right path no matter how dark and twisted they have become. All is forgivable in the eyes of God, just imagine what it would be like to have a heart so bright.
However, this is not to say that once one chooses to repent for years of over-indulgence, succumbing to temptation and betraying others in the selfish pursuit to fulfil only one’s personal desires, that one will be free from temptation altogether.
Again… The Devil ‘always’ whispers. The tests only become more articulate the more we move towards the light and evolve on the path. There will always be The Devil attempting to sell us back into the habit of smoking, fornicating, lusting and consuming into gluttony. The defence against these temptations is once again faith and a spirit that sees The Devil for what he is.
He is that which is addictive, that which is tempting, and that which pulls us away from God. To be close to God is to be detached from the world of form. The formed world is material, sensory, indulgent and sexual in it’s nature. It is indeed attractive, however only to our lower nature.
The Higher nature is fulfilled not through material possessions or sense indulgence, but rather by connection to The Divine and knowledge or experience of the soul itself.
Addiction is an automated cycle of behaviour continually seeking to gratify the senses and soothe emotional pain. Emotional pain must be healed and let go of, for with no fire, there is no need to extinguish flames with self medication.
Our deepest pains and traumas were not inflicted upon us by human beings themselves. The Devil, the darkness permeates all things and has indeed caused much pain in many of our lives. These pains and traumas are like fountains that The Devil drinks from. The darkness in our hearts is food for the demonic, therefore a significant component to becoming free again is to cleanse one’s heart through repentance and the acceptance of God and Most-Forgiving, Almighty and Most Merciful.
God is the only one The Devil fears. Through prayer we call God into our hearts, and through diligent, sincere practice we eventually break further free from attachment to the world and the compulsive need to gratify our senses, pushing The Devil back further and further.
Like all who are losing, The Devil will whisper more aggressively into a heart that has become clean, yet these whispers are no match for the new-found light that the heart possesses. Our light must be maintained through repentance, prayer, abstinence, right actions, scriptural study and self awareness or self knowing. Without this maintenance the darkness is allowed room to creep back in and reinitiate the parasitic process of possession over our hearts and habits.
Remember that The Devil always whispers. There is no day whilst living where temptations will cease to exist. They exist, yet this does not mean that we must give in to them, rather, we must use temptation as an invitation to find deeper strength and connection to The One Most High, God, Allah.
One may benefit from making alterations to their immediate environment and choose more wisely which gatherings to attend. However these changes are external only. They may provide some ease but if the internal changes have not been made, the darkness will find a way to fulfil itself once again.
When the internal transformation has taken place and is in continual maintenance, external temptations can exist all they wish, yet they will have very little to no effect on a radiant heart. The radiant heart shines so brightly that all illusion is dispelled, leaving nothing left of sweet temptation but the bitter truth in its place.
Severity
These lustful acts such as watching porn, masturbation, fornication, binge eating, or sloth in front of the TV, phone or source of entertainment are severe in their impact indeed. On the surface they may seem trivial and harmless, this is the strategy of The Devil. The path to Hell is paved with smiles and nice things.
What seems harmless can in fact be extremely harmful, although not in an overt, obvious way, the harm is more of a passive, cost over time effect. Such indulgences turn men weak, strip them of their potential and clarity of vision, they create impulsivity, poor focus and concentration leading to many projects and pursuits left unfinished.
If business and entrepreneurship are in their basis the pursuit of solving problems for other people, just consider how many problems are being left unsolved due to the potential of man laying dormant within his soul, whilst he self medicates and numbs his pain, settling for a lesser life and trading his potential for short term, cheap pleasures.
These cheap pleasures are in no way worth our potential and capacity to share good on this earth. However… by their very nature, granting such unrealistically high levels of stimulation and pleasure to the brain and body for a very little financial cost, so many of us are hooked and willing to trade our families, futures and fortunes away, blind to that fact that time is continuing to tick, potential is being wasted and indeed… hard times are coming.
When hard times come it would serve very much to be prepared. Sharpening ones inner faculties most importantly, developing virtues of the spirit that allow one to exit from the so called matrix, needing not the instant hits of pleasure and instant gratification.
A society is built a stoic, and falls epicurean. Virtuous men build societies together with their strong character, whilst the women feed them, nurture them, and heal them. It is when the society begins to indulge in open sexuality, pornography whether digital or on show to the public, drug abuse and the over-use of intoxicants, that sloth, gluttony, lust and pride begin to rot the society from within.
Such fallen societies crumble firstly because the men grow weak, submissive and are no longer willing to procreate or stand up for what is right. The population withers away, attraction is lost between the men and women meaning that the family unit is broken, and some other more powerful, strong, virtuous group of people soon invade to take over and bring back order.
The slow, gradual cost of epicurean living is similar to the analogy in which a frog is slowly boiled to its death. If the temperature is increased incrementally from a pleasant, comfortable and pleasurable warm to boiling hot gradually, the frog does not notice and meets its death. If however the water is already boiling, when the frog is dropped into the water it rapidly jumps to it’s freedom, escaping the death pot.
We are being cooked slowly. Cigarettes, refined sugar-ridden non-foods, porn, masturbation and ejaculating our valuable sperm wastefully, and the many other strategies set in place intending to covertly take away the fertility of the population and bring men down to their knees, whilst selling women the narrative that they are to be strong, independent and ‘’boss bitches’’.
Infra-structurally there are toxins and chemicals mixed into the tap water which alter our hormones. Hormone alteration leads to a reduction in sexual desire with the opposite sex and instead inspires homosexuality in those who consume it.
The pollution we are subject to does not finish there. The air is contaminated, and vaccinations are pushed against the population in order to get them to comply by subjecting themselves to genetic modification.
It seems the main contaminants are in the food, in the refined sweet non-foods and artificial meant that is currently on the rise, the water from our taps laden with hormone altering chemicals, the air contaminated with heavy metals such as aluminium sprayed across the sky via chem-trails… and where else?
Our minds… they are attacking from the inside, taking over the minds through tricking us into outsourcing our imagination to screens, whilst filling our heads with songs, chants and tunes that in no way empower the best in us but rather, occupy our mental space in a very meaningless or damaging way.
The media is the channel through which we are subjected to ideas that contaminate the mind. Social media and mainstream media, these are injecting into the minds of many ideas of fear and scarcity, promoting separation and leading to lonely insecurity.
So… we must, if we wish to be of those who survive and thrive in and after the hard times, be willing to eat real food, drink real water, breathe real air, detoxify our bodies from what does not belong there.
For our minds we must protect them from unwanted ideas, usually broadcasted by the media, detoxify our minds from ideas that have taken root that certainly do not belong there, for they are not aligned with our best intentions and truth, and use the capacity of our minds to imagine that which we wish to create, taking intentional, decisive, actionable steps towards actualising such visions.
Eat real food, breathe real air, detox the body. Protect the mind, cleanse the heart of unwanted ideas, and dare to imagine.
